Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply project management skills and knowledge in a variety of contexts, across a number of industry sectors. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Project Manager and Project Team Leader. Individuals in these roles have project leadership and management roles and are responsible for achieving project objectives. They possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical and managerial competencies to initiate, plan, execute and evaluate their own work and/or the work of others.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal training package entry requirements for BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management. SiBT requires domestic students to:

• be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise approved by the CEO or authorised delegate;
• have completed Year 12 or equivalent, or have relevant work/life experience demonstrating capacity to undertake Diploma-level study;
• participate in a pre-training review or course entry interview;
• complete a language, literacy, numeracy and digital capability check where required;
• have access to a computer, suitable software and reliable internet.

Where support needs are identified, SiBT will consider reasonable adjustment, learning support or referral to specialist services.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Skills

As part of the Standards for RTOs 2025, students are required to complete an LLND skills assessment before enrolment. This helps identify the core skills and any reasonable learning support needed to complete the course.

Delivery and assessment summary

The qualification is delivered over 52 weeks, comprising four terms of 10 weeks each (40 weeks total) and up to 12 weeks of term breaks.

Delivery and assessment details

Students are required to attend 20 hours of classroom-based training and assessment per week. Approximately 10 hours of additional unsupervised study is expected each week.

Pathways

Potential employment options are available across a range of project management roles and industry areas. Students may progress to the BSB60720 Advanced Diploma of Program Management, another Advanced Diploma, or relevant higher education qualifications.
